About

I am pretty sure that my love of writing and storytelling has evolved from all of the quirky and unconventional aspects of my life thus far. Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay in Pasadena, Maryland, life was everything but normal in our household. My mom, being the brave, adventurous soul that she is – decided to give homeschooling a shot with me and my three brothers. There are probably a thousand stories on this experience alone that I could tell you about; some good, some bad, but mostly all of them just downright hilarious.

Rather than spending K-12 basking in the fluorescent glow of an American classroom, I was usually sprawled out on my kitchen floor with magic markers, construction paper, and a mind full of thoughts. It was here I went to work for the very first time as a writer; producing numerous short stories and newsletters about everything from wild backyard pets to my haunted, Indian burial-ground neighborhood.

Fast forward to my senior year of “high school”, where I landed my first internship at a national magazine in downtown Baltimore and was introduced to the magical world of print journalism. I received my Bachelors Degree in Business Communications from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) and spent the summer after graduation traveling around South Africa, Zambia and Botswana.

Currently, I reside in Anne Arundel County and work mostly from my studio apartment. Since completing my Bachelors Degree, I’ve worked on an eclectic mix of freelance marketing, public relations, design and promotional projects and have also recently made the decision to pursue my Masters in Professional Writing.

When I’m not writing, I like to sleep. I also really enjoy a good margarita – on the rocks, salt rim, not too much ice. Downtown Annapolis and The Point on Gibson Island are two of my favorite places in the world and I’m so lucky they’re both right in my back yard – but sometimes I also just like to drive around aimlessly with the windows down and music up while contemplating the meaning of human life.

I don’t get bored too easily. Part of life, I think, is being given nothing and turning it into something. Whether it be filling a blank page with your own words or turning an ordinary day into the best day of your life – take what you’ve got and run with it. I sure am.
